Created for the London Festival of Architecture
Photography by Luke O’Donovan

Designed as part of the London Festival of Architecture, the Look Up benches were built and installed over the summer lockdown in London. The inspiration came from observing the way people walk around staring at their smartphones or down at the street below. In response, I wanted to create a design that made people gaze up to take in the architecture of the city. Two upward glancing eyeballs encourage visitors of the bench to take in their surroundings above street level. Each colourful eye provides a space for someone to sit and contemplate both the world around them and the marvels of the skyline above.
